Dietetics and Dietitians

       Little Introduction

This blog aims at providing vital pieces of dietetic information. These pieces of information are expected to go along way achieving general wellness to it's adherents. This blog will also serve as a professional medium for distant dietetic consultation from clients out there.
By the way, who are Dietitians? Dietitians are regulated health professionals, who use science of nutrition to professionally prescribe food/feeding to individuals either in health or in disease
Dietitians are to use the title Registered Dietitian-Nutritionists (RDN) or Registered Dietitian/Dietician(RD), as the case may be. Dietitians must be registered with the dietetic regulatory body in the province/Country in which they practice, with all the rights and privileges thereto.
  • Relevance of Dietitians
Dietitians are in high demand, especially in this part of the world where there are many self-acclaimed health and wellness preachers who talk based on mere perceptions or hypotheses, rather than results from scientific experimentations
Today, with better understanding of the relationship between good eating habits and good health, Dietitians are playing an increasingly important role in contributing to the health and well-being of their clients all over the world, including patients in hospitals.
There are three basic steps to becoming a professionally qualified Dietitian in different countries of the world:
  1. Education: Completion of an accredited Undergraduate Program (BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics).
  2. Compulsory completion of a year Internship program in accredited hospital, after successfully passing the test of professional competence examination.
  3. Registration with a Dietetic Regulatory Body, to be able to practice.
From now henceforth, you will continue hearing from me.
Thanks.
